A tanker and a bulk carrier collided in the Dover Strait around 0200 hrs GMT on 1 July.
The UK Coastguard said that the 75,492 dwt bulk carrier Huayang Endeavour had collided with the 48,580 dwt MR products tanker Seafrontier.
The Huayang Endeavour was ballasting, with 22 crew members on board, while the Seafrontier was loaded with 37,953 tonnes of gasoline.
The UK Coastguard said that no injuries or casualties occurred. Neither was there any pollution nor water ingress.
A Coastguard helicopter, along with Dover and Ramsgate RNLI lifeboats were deployed to the scene, while a French tug is on hand to provide towage. The lifeboats left the scene as there was no requirement.
The UK Coastguard is working to ensure that traffic in the Dover Strait Traffic Separation Scheme is not disrupted and is monitoring the situation.
IHS Markit's Sea-web data show that Chinese state-run Huayang Maritime Center, known for training seafarers, owns the 2013-built Huayang Endeavour, while the 2011-built Seafrontier is owned by Valles Steamship Canada Inc, which is part of the Valles Steamship group that was founded by the Hong Kong-based Koo family.
The Koo family is also related through marriage, to other Hong Kong-based shipping families which founded companies such as OOCL, Island Navigation, and Tai Chong Cheang Steamship.
The UK Coastguard said that Huayang Endeavour was en route to Lagos after departing from Amsterdam, while the Seafrontier was on the way to Puerto Barrios.
The Seafrontier has been time-chartered to French oil major TOTAL SA's shipping division, CSSA Chartering & Shipping.
The Coastguard said, "MCA Counter Pollution and Salvage and an MCA surveyor have all been informed and are working to resolve the situation.
The Secretary of State's Representative for Maritime Salvage and Intervention has been advised and is monitoring the situation."
